Motilium - prokinetic of 2 generation, prescribed in the upper gastrointestinal tract's diseases treatment, accompanied by motor-evacuation function's decreasing, as well as an antiemetic drug.
Motilium blocks dopamine D-receptors and thus eliminates the inhibition of dopamine in digestive system's motor activity. It increases the duration of antral gastric and duodenal peristalsis, prevents slow gastric emptying, increases lower esophageal sphincter tone.
Motilium reduces or prevents the power's development of vomiting and nausea.
Indications for use:
Complex dyspeptic symptoms that are often associated with delayed gastric emptying, gastroesophageal reflux disease, esophagitis:
epigastric fullness, bloating feeling, pain in the belly's upper;
heartburn with regurgitation of stomach's contents to the mouth or without such.
Vomiting and nausea of functional or organic origin due to food intake, as well as caused by radiation or drug therapy.
Motilium is used before meals, because absorption of domperidone may be impaired after food.
Adults' and children's over 12 years dose: 1-2 tablets 3 or 4 times a day, the maximum dose per day - 80 mg.
It's prescribed 1 tablet 3-4 times a day for children. The dose can be doubled if desired effect is absent. The daily dose doesn't exceed 80 mg.
Motilium tablets are indicated only for adults and children that weight more than 35 kg. For pediatric patients should be used Motilium's suspension.
